Douglas Strout, the heart and soul behind Strout Insurance Agency, brings more than just expertise to the table. His journey into the world of insurance was unconventional, to say the least. After graduating from Bates College with a degree in Biology, Douglas embarked on a three-year adventure backpacking through New Zealand, Australia, and Southeast Asia with his brother. This transformative experience instilled in him a deep appreciation for exploration and cultural diversity. Upon returning home, Douglas found himself on a different path, initially trying his hand at various jobs, including selling water softeners and working for the 1990 Census Bureau. However, it was fate that led him to the doors of Insphere, where he discovered his true calling in the insurance industry.

Since joining the insurance world in 1991, Douglas’s career has been nothing short of remarkable. Starting as a young agent with minimal sales experience, he has since become a seasoned expert in his field, serving the communities of Maine and New Hampshire for over three decades. Douglas’s relaxed and educational approach to client interactions reflects his genuine desire to help others navigate the complexities of insurance with ease. Outside of his professional endeavors, Douglas is a devoted family man, residing in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, with his wife Anna and their two daughters, Ella and Helen. Together, they embrace Maine’s natural beauty, enjoying camping, hiking, and canoeing adventures whenever possible. Douglas’s passion for life extends beyond his work, as he remains an active member of his local Ultimate Frisbee® league, a hobby he picked up during his college years. With each client interaction, Douglas brings a unique blend of experience, empathy, and enthusiasm, ensuring that every individual receives the personalized attention and guidance they deserve.
